Hi, Mark Lewis here, I speak on behalf of Caerwent Community Centre Committee Ltd. (a not for profit charity, reg. number 1137235.
Bit of history – The Committee administers the centre in Lawrence Crescent Caerwent on behalf of the local community and has done so for many years.
We have a large indoor sports hall (28x14m) as well as a separate games room equipped with Table tennis and pool table. A separate meeting room equipped with tables and chairs, accessible toilets and fitted kitchen. See our website for photos, current activities ,hire rates and conditions etc.
Prior to the pandemic, a whole host of clubs and organisations (including a weekly youth club,)used the facility on a regular basis, and we are keen to welcome back NEW and existing users as soon as the situation allows..
The Need – We are currently seeking funds to replace the Sports Hall floor. Having been in situ for more than 50 years, it is wearing out and soon it will not be ‘fit for purpose’ and is proving to be a hinderance to the further development of the facility.
If the floor is not replaced this could result in the loss of the facility, as bookings are cancelled and new groups fail to be attracted to the Centre
We are also seeking feedback on what YOU feel is needed to make the Caerwent Community Centre ‘fit for purpose’ and the RANGE of services and activities you would like to see on offer at your local facility. We are particularly keen to generate more daytime use of the Centre to meet the needs of a wide range of people, of different ages and interests, e.g., toddler groups, older people’s social groups, health & fitness groups etc. As lockdown is eased, we hope to bring people together to improve their sense of wellbeing and belonging to their local community.
How you can help – Please help us to demonstrate the need for this vital community facility to potential funding bodies, by completing the attached survey online or by returning a paper copy to Ross House opposite Caerwent Post Office.
The information we collect can be anonymous or evidentially declared and will be collated and shared ONLY for the purposes of evidencing community consultation to potential funding bodies.
By completing the form (linked below) we understand that your permission has been given to use the information you supply for the stated purpose.
Thank you for your kind support.
If you lead a group we would be grateful if you would disperse this message with the survey link to your other members. We are particularly keen to hear young peoples views. To help with our process please complete ASAP.
